How You Got Here – About



I am so thrilled that everyone who uses my hand dyed yarns in a project knows they are getting a ridiculously beautiful product worthy of the most discerning fiber artist in the world.

Before I created Rembrandt Yarns, I played with yarn.  I dyed random skeins, learned to spin my own yarn, knit many items, and became a more competent fiberista. 

Then one day something happened. I realized a lot of yarn lovers are tired of commercial yarns.  They are fed up with their projects looking just like everyone else’s.  They are tired of spending hours creating a handmade item just to have it turn out just like all the others they’ve ever seen.

I was concerned that I couldn’t do this.  I was scared.  It was a big departure for me to put myself out there.  What if I failed?  What if I looked silly?

But then I realized that none of that matters.  I love yarn and I love yarn lovers.  I want to try my best to serve my community and friends.  I want to make things that excite fiber lovers.  I want to help you make  your own masterpiece.

So I set out to create the most beautiful, unique and colorful yarns for the most discerning knitters in the world.

It turns out the road was more difficult than I imagined.

I needed to learn what customers want.  I didn’t know how to make a website.

I haunted fiber events, and talked to fiber artists of all kinds.  I invested in a website design class and taught myself how to create a beautiful website.  Because I wanted to bring the most wonderful yarns to those who would love them.

I developed a shoulder problem from all the knitting while testing my products.  I feared no one would like my products.

Through it all I released my first products and the response has been pure love.

The best part?  I’ve met so many fiber lovers, people who would never dream of calling themselves “fiber artists”.  But that’s who they are, right down in their souls.  I plan to serve them for many years, and hope my yarns add some small bit of happiness to their adventures with fiber.
